PEARL: That tape gonna get you killed. Jackson jumps, thinking he is alone with his wife Ruth. JACKSON: Momma, how long you been standing there? PEARL: Long enough. During the following, Ruth listens and cautiously fingers the video tape. JACKSON: Then you see how fortune done fallen in our laps. PEARL: I don't see nothing. JACKSON: I was a witness. I was a witness to the whole fucking thing. PEARL: What have I told you 'bout using that word! JACKSON: Fuck? What! -- Ma it don't mean nothing. PEARL: Then why you got to use it all the time? What, you can't find no better word in the whole English language? JACKSON: It says what I mean. PEARL: It don't say nothing. I'm tired of hearing it. Hear it on the street, can't do nothing 'bout it but in here, in this room, I ain't gonna 'llow it. JACKSON: You're being stupid. Pearl slaps at Jackson. PEARL: Who you calling stupid? JACKSON: I didn't mean nothing by it. PEARL: Then say what you mean. Then maybe somebody'll take a mind to listen to you. JACKSON: Look Momma, I just photographed the whole thing. I got it all on film.... PEARL: ....and they gonna kill you for it. JACKSON: They gonna make me a hero. PEARL: A hero?! For showing 'em up? They put you in the jail house. JACKSON: Momma you don't understand what this means ... Momma we done hit the jackpot. PEARL: Jackpot?! Jackass! It's a lucky thing you didn't get yourself killed. JACKSON: We ain't got no luck Momma. This is the first lucky thing that's ever happened to me! Don't you see!! All your heads up pennies finally gonna amount to something. PEARL: That man's dead. JACKSON: So, that's his misfortune not mine. Right now, all we got to do is put the word out and then sit back and wait for the highest bidder. ABC, NBC, CBS ... don't make any difference to me. Jackson grabs the phone book. PEARL: What makes you think they gonna pay for something like that? Ruth takes the tape and holds it as if it could hold the answer to all her dreams. RUTH: They do. They will. I've read about it. I've seen it -- hundreds of thousands of dollars. He is right. JACKSON: They blew his head off, Momma, somebody's gonna pay.
