- LIGHT BURGERS WALTZING THROUGH THE GARDEN WITH JOE

from ACT ONE

FRANK: Afternoon, Merrillee. You going somewhere?

MERRILLEE:	With 'it'. The Light's coming here tonight and I'm going with it.

GEORGE: See! What did I tell you. Come on in, Merrillee, have a seat.

L.E.: Don't encourage her, George. Dragging a suitcase. Talking crazy.

FRANK: Merrillee, you sure you're feeling all right?

MERRILLEE:	I'm just fine, Frank, thank you. Hiidee, Mason. Good to see you
again. (she waves/Mason acknowledges and she goes to a
booth) George, you mind if I sit in this booth?

GEORGE: About that booth....I don't mind, but I can't have you sitting
there all night without ordering food. You know, on account of
the turn over and people being partial to a booth....

MERRILLEE:	I don't have to eat it, do I?

GEORGE: No, Ma'am, you just have to pay for it.

MERRILLEE:	(pulling out a wad of money) Here, you take this now and
whenever you think about turning it over you just bring me
		something you think they'd order.

FRANK: You better be careful flashing money around like that, somebody
		will steal it.

MERRILLEE:	Doesn't matter to me, I won't need it where I'm going.

L.E.: (to George/Mason) See what you've done.

FRANK: Now, Merrillee, even if something was to come tonight what
makes you think it's ready to land and take passengers with it?

MERRILLEE:	It told me.

MASON: You talked to it?

MERRILLEE:	After I introduced myself ... of course.

L.E.: Merrillee, you can't go around introducing yourself to everything
		and everybody.

MERRILLEE:	It doesn't mean any harm.

L.E.: What somebody means and what happens can be two totally different
		things.

MERRILLEE:	You don't have to worry. Why I've seen it every night it's been
out. At first I thought it was just a coincidence that I was
looking at it. Then after a while I began to realize it was
		looking at me.

FRANK: Merrillee, you best take care, since the light started shining we got
a lot of strange people in town doing a lot of strange things. I
wouldn't put it past any one of them to be leering in your bedroom
		window.

MERRILLEE:	No, it was them. I know. You can tell when a UFO is in your
presence. You can feel it. Sometimes you can hear it. If you
have any electrical devices on like a TV or radio the picture
will blur and all you can hear is the sound of static ....
